About the Owner of Patriot Pool and Spa, Fred Williams

My name is Fred Williams

I grew up in Southern California, your typical surfer, lowered VW bug and all. I graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1984. After high school, I worked as a salesman for my father, until joining the United States Navy in 1986. While attending Rescue Swimmer School in Pensacola, I met my wife. Dana and I were married soon thereafter. Dana and I got orders to San Diego. There, I worked an H-46 Helicopter Rescue Swimmer, Crew Chief and Aviation Electrician.

Like many before me, I did several overseas deployments in the defense of our Nation during my time with the Navy. My last and longest deployment was in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. I was aboard the USS Mars. Like many of us, who served in the theatre of war, there are visions, smells and fears that I will never forget. It was the moment in my life where the American Flag and Patriotism really began to mean something to me. I was awarded the Kuwait Liberation Medal and my Second Navy Achievement Medal during that deployment.

After returning home, I was transferred to the training squadron where I instructed both Officers and Enlisted on H-46 Helicopter Fundamentals and In Flight Procedures. There I became a NATOPS Instructor and was responsible for the final safety check of the aircrew.

I left the US Navy in 1996 to pursue a career in law enforcement. I was very dedicated and among a long list of Navy qualifications and achievements, I also obtained a baccalaureate degree in Criminology, with a minor in Psychology. In transition, I took a job as an administrative assistant at Family Pool and Spain Pensacola, Florida. I was swept up with the business of selling pools and left the business of law enforcement to others.

FWW Enterprises Inc. opened October 1st2001. The main location is and has always been located in Fort Walton Beach, I have operated second locations in four other cities. Those locations fell in 2008.

I originally opened under the business name of Family Pool, Spa & Billiards. This name was on loan to me by my previous employer, who gave me a start in the pool business. At the time, it was a good for the business as it gave the impression of a franchise situation and this helped with the start-up of the business.

In September of 2005, I changed the name to The Backyard Outlet. The business plan behind this name was to break away from the “pool and spa” stereotype and become a business that had “everything for the backyard”. Unfortunately, we battled with the name, in that consumers could not grasp the concept.

In October of 2015, I opened a new location in Pensacola Florida. The Jacuzzi Corporation offered the opportunity to use the Jacuzzi name in the new business, so I opened in Pensacola under the name of Jacuzzi of Pensacola, and rebranded the Fort Walton Location to Sundance Spas of Fort Walton. Since that time, I have lost the lion share of the swimming pool business. Again struggling with public perception of what this business offers in regards to swimming pools and hot tubs.
For that reason, I have chosen to rebrand for the third and final time. This time, there should be no mistaking what I do or what I’m about!
